Cost Effective Repetitive Control for Disk Drive Servosystems. We are examining tradeoffs between repetitive controller complexity and performance. This is being approached in the following way: first a good repetitive controller design is broken into components such that the effect of each component on the performance of the closed loop system can be determined. Each of these components has an implementation cost which may be prohibitive to the application of repetitive control.

By using less complex realizations of these components (one way is through model reduction), we hope to reduce cost and yet still achieve the performance goals of repetitive control. The practicality of this depends upon the particular characteristics of the repetitive disturbance, the type of non-repetitive disturbances present, as well as the system to which repetitive control is being applied.
